It’s a new year and we’re over the moon to welcome a new member to Team TFG, Jenya Steanson, as our Senior Design Executive.
Here, she talks about what she will be bringing to the table at TFG and her love for all things feline.
It’s such a fast growing and busy paced business and I am already loving the range of roles and responsibilities which I am taking on. I graduated from the University of Creative Arts in Farnham with a First Class (Hons) degree in Graphic Communication in 2016. My passion has always been in print and editorial design but, recently, I have discovered a love for web design. The same principles broadly apply – my job across all medias is basically aesthetics! I style the look and feel of websites to create a great user experience for customers and help brands to bring their businesses into the 21st century.
When I left university, I started freelancing and I had the opportunity to work with a great variety of different clients. These include Mint Velvet, Edge Nails and Optimal Carpentry. Working with Mint Velvet on their social media designs and email campaigns was such a valuable experience and it gave me insight into how important design is in digital communications.
Freelancing can be quite lonely so it is lovely to work with such interesting and friendly people in The Typeface Group office. It’s great to be able to bounce ideas off one another instead of me talking things through with my cat!
I then spent eight months with an agency in Basingstoke working on web design, which I really enjoyed. I had previously worked with for Polly and her team at The Typeface Group when I was freelancing. So, I jumped at the opportunity to join them on a full-time and permanent basis.Polly and her team are true advocates of flexible working and this is definitely something which I love about the job. It gives me the opportunity to still enjoy a good work/life balance.
I love spending my free time visiting London for the exhibitions and the shows. My favourites recently have been the British Museum, the Harry Potter Exhibition and being in the studio audience for a recording of BBC’s Mock the Week. I always take my camera with me as I am a keen street and landscape photographer and London is packed with picture-perfect scenes for me to capture. Whenever I can, I also try to visit new cities and countries to take photographs as well. When I am in London, I also make sure I fit in some shopping too and I usually head to Zara to treat myself.
I have to confess to being a crazy cat lady! My pet cat Nimbus is brilliant, I love getting home from work and being greeted by my four-legged friend with lots of cuddles and meows. And, yes, Nimbus is a Harry Potter reference – I may be a not so small fan of all things Hogwarts!
I look forward to working with the diverse range of clients on board with The Typeface Group and using my creative skills to support your business and brand.
