BEGINNERS TIPS FOR LINKEDIN.
Author Natalie Weaving
LinkedIn is the biggest social platform for creating business opportunities. Whether you’re trying to find the job or your dreams or you are the business looking for your next employee, it is important to keep your profile up to the highest standards.
Completed your LinkedIn profile?
All of it… not forgetting to include your heading and title! Make your profile detailed and keyword rich to get you up those Google rankings and any searches carried out on LinkedIn.
Connect to those that are relevant to your business. And your past. Explain in each previous role how it has made you the best at what you did now.
You don’t have to say yes to everyone; however, check the connections of those that might not be directly relevant to you, -their connections might be!
If you find someone but can’t connect, check the groups they belong to and join. You then can choose “in the same group” and connect!
Try and publish an industry specific article once a month. This needs to well written and authoritative. And don’t forget to respond to ALL comments!
Share content from your website including your blog, onto a COMPANY LinkedIn page then out through your personal page.
When you join a group, try and get involved in the discussions, that way you can attract a wider audience and more viewers will come across your profile. Don’t hesitate to follow your competitors, it’s always good to get updates of what is going on with the opposition.
Ask for recommendations.
Don’t be shy. The more recommendations you have the higher your profile shows when searched. When you complete a project with a connection kindly ask them to leave you some feedback. And, if possible, leave some for them explaining how great they are to work with. Flattery will get you anywhere (apparently!).
Keep it professional.
This a more formal way of networking so it is no place for personal updates or a family snap as your profile picture. A clear headshot and authoritative updates on a regular basis will place you in a better position than those that share memes and their holiday snaps!
The more you engage, share, like, comment… The more you’re seen.
